Rolls-Royce clinches contract with Etihad Airways

Power systems colossus Rolls-Royce Group is set to soar the skies in the Middle East after clinching a contract with Etihad Airways to provide the airliner with long-term engine services and performance enhancement kits.The deal adds to the growing list of contract wins by Rolls-Royce since the opening of the Le Bourget International Air Show in Paris on Monday. Under the terms of the deal, which is worth $360m, the Abu Dhabi-based airline will receive TotalCare services for Trent 700 engines that power four Airbus A330 aircraft. It will also extend an existing contract covering the same engines that power 20 more of its A330 fleet."This is an extension of a long term partnership between Etihad and Rolls-Royce, which will result in greater fuel efficiency and cost savings," Eithad's chief executive officer James Hogan said."Environmental performance is a key consideration for Etihad so we are particularly pleased to be introducing the EP [enhanced performance] kits on our Rolls-Royce engines," Hogan added.
