Rolls-Royce bags $200m Turkish order

Turkish Airlines has signed a $200m order for Rolls-Royce's flagship Trent 700 engines to power three Airbus A330 freighters.The contract also includes a long-term maintenance agreement, which Rolls calls TotalCare.The UK aeroengine maker already has orders from Turkish Airlines for two air freighters and this latest contract is in addition to these. Turkish Airlines now has a total of 16 Rolls-Royce powered A330 passenger and freighter aircraft in service or on order to support its growth strategy.Rolls now has more than 1,300 Trent 700s in service or on firm order. It claims the Trent 700 powers 90% of A330s used to carry freight and has captured more than 75% of all engine orders for the A330 in the last three years,"The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the A330 and delivers significant payload benefits in operation," Nick Devall, Rolls-Royce Chief Commercial Officer - Civil Aerospace, said.
