Rolls-Royce bags £1.4bn Emirates support deal

Engine maker Rolls-Royce has won a $2.2bn (£1.4bn) contract with Emirates to look after its Trent engines on 70 of the airline's new Airbus A350XWB aircraft.The latest batch, due to come online in the next few years, brings the number of Emirates planes under the UK company's TotalCare agreement to 128."This TotalCare contract with Rolls-Royce is an important step in ensuring our A350XWB engine life cycle costs are managed effectively and maintained to the highest standards," Tim Clark, President - Emirates Airline, said.TotalCare long term service agreements are designed to "minimise customer financial risk and enhance operational performance and reliability, allowing operators to concentrate on their core business".Two months ago, Rolls signed a new TotalCare contract worth $1.2bn for Trent 700 engines powering 27 Airbus A330s and Trent 800 engines powering 21 Boeing 777s.
