Rockhopper Exploration has found that samples recovered from a test well in waters off the Falkland Islands have all shown to be oil, indicated a good quality reservoir and a mobile crude oil.Wireline fluid and pressure testing of 14/10-2 well on the Sea Lion prospect in the North Falkland Basin also revealed the possibility of two separate oil columns and no oil water contacts or water sands. The Ocean Guardian rig is not equipped with facilities to analyse the fluid samples, so analysis will take place after the sample containers are shipped to a lab."All current indications are that the oil recovered from the Sea Lion well is moveable which, if confirmed, would be further positive news," said managing director Samuel Moody."We will now wait for confirmation of the quality of the fluid as a result of the laboratory analysis, and continue our review of the data gathered from the well."Rockhopper will suspend the well for future testing and make a further announcement once the rig is released, which could be a week to ten days.
