Mondi predicts profit jump

Paper and packaging firm Mondi expects profits for the first half of 2011 to be "considerably higher" than in the same period last year, it said in an announcement today.It expects to report basic earnings per share of €0.38 to €0.43, up from €0.215 the previous year, and basic headline earnings per share of €0.37 to €0.42, up from €0.248.Mondi said in May that its first quarter results were better than expected, helped by the effect of prices increases, which offset cost rises.Mondi's main operations are in central Europe, Russia and South Africa. It employs about 29,000 people.
