(Sharecast News) - Artificial intelligence (AI) software and simulation company Intelligent Ultrasound announced on Wednesday that GE Healthcare has incorporated its 'ScanNav' real-time AI technology into its new Voluson Expert 22 ultrasound machine.

The AIM-traded firm said Voluson Expert 22 features 'SonoLyst', which it described as the world's first fully-integrated AI tool that recognises the 21 views recommended by the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology mid-trimester practice guidelines for foetal imaging.

It said it incorporates its 'ScanNav Assist' AI technology.

It would be the second machine in the Voluson portfolio to incorporate the ScanNav AI software as an optional add-on.

"We are delighted to see our software incorporated into the Voluson Expert 22, one of the best obstetrics ultrasound machines in the women's healthcare market," said chief technology officer Nicholas Sleep.

"It's a great example of how GE Healthcare leads the world in medical imaging.

"We look forward to continuing to work with the GE Healthcare team and remain very excited about our novel 'classroom-to-clinic' approach that is endeavouring to make clinical diagnostic ultrasound easier to learn and simpler to use."

At 1100 BST, shares in Intelligent Ultrasound Group were down 1.72% at 14.25p.
