News that Micro Focus has improved the terms of its offer for legendary US software company Borland had shares in the software company higher Thursday.The UK firm is now offering $1.15 per Borland share, up from its previous offer of $1 per share, valuing the business at about $88m.Today's increased offer heads off the prospect of a rival bid. A financial buyer interested in gatecrashing the deal has withdrawn from the process, Micro Focus said.It was a different story at road and infrastructure support group Mouchel though, which warned that this year's performance will be below expectations. The group said it has increasingly been affected by the previously reported challenges in rail and in the Middle East. Pub group and real ale brewer Marston's is also off colour. It's announced a fully underwritten 11 for 10 rights issue at 59p to raise £176m.
