FTSE 250 movers: Gold miners track Randgold higher

Gold miners Centamin and African Barrick Gold tracked sector peer Randgold higher after the FTSE 100 constituent said it hit targets for 2013, boosted gold production to a new record level and expects output to rise over the next five years.A 1.77% increase in the gold price, possibly in reaction to the ongoing rise in risk aversion in capital markets, also helped to push those stocks higher. BBA Aviation was also higher after revealing it has sold its APPH entities, a full-service landing gear and hydraulic sub-systems supplier, and announced it was considering a cash return to shareholders. The business, which had formed part of BBA's Aftermarket Services division, was sold for $128m, the $120.6m proceeds of which will be use to reduce the group's debt level. MITIE made a modest gain after the strategic outsourcing specialist said its financial year had been progressing well and that it was "well-positioned" to deliver good organic growth and strong margins in its facilities management and healthcare segments. However, gains were limited by the fact it has experienced some delays in the start of new contracts in its property management arm. Meanwhile, International Public Partnerships declined after announcing that it has made a number of acquisitions and disposals within its Building Schools for the Future (BSF) portfolio. The UK investment company said it will buy a 60% interest in the Kent BSF education project from Kier Project Investments.
