(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 250 was up 0.43% at 19,476.67 in afternoon trading on Monday, with FDM Group leading the index higher.

Following just behind, recruiter Hays racked up solid gains after reporting a rise in full-year net fees but a drop in pre-tax profit during the previous week, while GVC Holdings climbed after raising €200m through a debt issue to prepay an existing loan.

Woodford Patient Capital Trust climbed after its manager Neil Woodford blamed a "momentum-driven market" for its underperformance as it appointed experienced fund manager Jane Tufnell as an independent non-executive director.

Meanwhile, Tate & Lyle moved higher after analysts at Goldman Sachs raised the stock's target price from 770p to 800p.

Lancashire Holdings edged higher as analysts at Shore Capital commented that the insurer appears in good shape to deal with the effects of Hurricane Dorian "as its business model is driven by taking advantage of market opportunities and deploying capital at times of stress."

Down at the other end of the index, British sub-prime lender Provident Financial led the index's fallers for the second consecutive session.

Finally, Amigo Holdings continued to drop, having plummeted on Friday after its first-quarter results disappointed due to higher impairments and costs, while the lender also warned that annual loan book growth would be flat.
