Figures out from AA Insurance lifted shares in car insurers on Wednesday, prompting Esure to motor ahead to the top of the second tier leaderboard. The AA said that comprehensive rates had risen 2.8% in the third quarter, with third party rates climbing 6.6% - the first quarterly increase in two years.International Personal Finance climbed after it reported third-quarter trading in line with expectations and Panmure Gordon gave it a lift after saying the stock's recent decline means its is now worth a 'buy' recommendation.Chemicals group Synthomer also rose on the news it has bought out joint venture Akzo Nobel's share of Eka Synthomer Oy, a Finnish paper latex producer. The group paid €5m to purchase the remaining 50% of Eka Synthomer that it did not own.Supergroup shares declined after Investec cut its forecasts by 4% "to reflect the continued warm weather and currency [headwinds]" that has affected the group. The note came as the fashion retailer announced the appointment of Euan Sutherland, the former chief executive of the troubled Co-operative group as its new boss. Sutherland stepped down from the Co-op after expressing concern about how the mutual retailer could be turned around following the discovery of a £1.5bn black hole in the accounts of its banking arm.Senior was in the red despite delivering a third quarter update with no surprises. However, it said European and Brazilian industrial markets remained subdued and demand for agricultural and construction equipment markets began to slow towards the end of the period.
