Clothing retailer Next is leading other retailers higher as it shrugs off worries about rising cotton prices. Kingfisher, ahead of tommorrow's figures, and Marks & Spencer are both up on the day. Next's pre-tax profit increased 15% to £213.3m on revenue up 5% to £1.59bn. Like for like sales fell 1.5%, as previously flagged.Forecasts are unchanged from August's update when estimates for full-year profit were put at between £535m and £560m, representing growth of 6-11%.Miners are lower today with African Barrick Gold leading the worst performers after being hit by profit-taking following the recent sharp rise in the gold price. Xstrata is also lower but its fall is partly due to going ex-dividend. The interim is 3.34p a share.
