Weak metals prices mean that miners are leading the Footsie down today. Xstrata and Eurasian Natural Resources are the biggest losers. Even Vedanta Resources, which says that it achieved a significant uplift in annual production in its last financial year, is not immune. Vedanta achieved record quarterly production of iron ore and aluminium during the first three months of 2010. Financials are also heading downwards with Old Mutual and Lloyds Banking the worst performers in the sector. British Airways is bouncing back following its announcement that the airline and its Spanish counterpart Iberia have formally signed a merger agreement that will result in the creation of one of the world's largest airline groups by the end of the year.FTSE 100 - RisersBritish Airways (BAY) 243.40p +2.18%ICAP (IAP) 383.30p +1.40%Smith & Nephew (SN.) 672.00p +1.28%London Stock Exchange Group (LSE) 739.50p +1.16%Smiths Group (SMIN) 1,137.00p +0.89%Sainsbury (J) (SBRY) 334.60p +0.33%Sage Group (SGE) 245.80p +0.20%Diageo (DGE) 1,122.00p +0.18%Cobham (COB) 274.00p 0.00%Severn Trent (SVT) 1,206.00p -0.00%FTSE 100 - FallersXstrata (XTA) 1,268.50p -3.43%Old Mutual (OML) 120.40p -3.06%Eurasian Natural Resources (ENRC) 1,213.00p -2.96%Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY) 62.60p -2.89%Johnson Matthey (JMAT) 1,748.00p -2.62%Burberry Group (BRBY) 689.50p -2.61%Kazakhmys (KAZ) 1,563.00p -2.50%Marks & Spencer Group (MKS) 369.00p -2.43%Rio Tinto (RIO) 3,898.50p -2.31%Land Securities Group (LAND) 672.00p -2.18%
