Precious metals miner Fresnillo shone as gold and silver prices rose.

Diageo continued to fizz higher, having surged on Thursday as investors welcomed the drinks giant's cost-savings plans.

JD Sports Fashion gained as it said Peter Agnefjäll has been appointed as chair effective from September 2026. He succeeds Darren Shapland, who has served as interim chair since the end of July and will remain on the board as an independent director.
