FTSE 100 movers: Cairn in demand

Cairn Energy jumped to the top of the FTSE 100 movers on hopes for its prospects in Greenland after it secured a drill ship to start a year ahead of schedule. Barclays has got a lift from Deutsche Bank, which has reiterated its buy recommendations despite the threat of the extra capital requirements suggested for the whole sector by the Basel Committee of central bankers last week.London Stock Exchange is down on confirmation it will take a majority stake in Turquoise, the trading platform that was set up by banks in 2008 to force LSE to lower its fees. LSE said it will merge Turquoise with its trading facility Baikal Global to create a pan-European trading venture. It will take a 60% stake in Turquoise, with 40% being retained by the banks that set up the platform. LSE announced it was in talks with Turquoise in October.
