(Sharecast News) - Radiofrequency communications products group Filtronic has secured a new contract win for the development and manufacture of advanced RF electronic modules for a "major UK Defence prime".

Filtronic said on Tuesday that the £4.5m contract win includes a product qualification phase, starting in January 2024, with the delivery of final production units scheduled over 12 months starting Q4 2024.

The AIM-listed group highlighted that it was an "established supplier" of advanced microwave filter and RF solutions to the defence market and that it has "a proven track record" of delivering high-reliability RF components, hybrids, multi-chip modules and sub-systems for "demanding" aerospace and defence applications.

Chief executive Richard Gibbs said: "We have been working closely with the new customer over several years and this contract win represents a successful collaboration between the MoD, the customer, Filtronic and PRFI, a leading UK-based technical design consultancy providing monolithic microwave integrated circuits services.

"It is yet another example of Filtronic's ability to support the UK Defence Industry with a sovereign supply chain for advanced semiconductor packaging solutions that are optimised for both thermal and radio frequency performance".

As of 1120 GMT, Filtronic shares were up 6.41% at 20.75p.
