FARNBOROUGH - Rolls-Royce, Boeing and Airbus strike billion-dollar deals

Airbus, Boeing and jet engine maker Rolls-Royce racked up orders totalling billions of dollars on the third day of the Farnborough Air Show.Rolls-Royce won a deal of undisclosed value from aircraft lessor CIT Group for Trent 7000 engines to power CIT's order of 15 Airbus new-engine A330-900neo family aircraft. Deliveries are due to begin in 2018.Air Mauritius signed a deal with Airbus for four of the European manufacturer's A350-900 aircraft. The flag carrier also said it was leasing two more A350-900s. It will fly the six A350 XWBs on European, Asian and Australian routes.Boeing and Hainan Airlines said they were finalising terms and working toward a purchase agreement for 50 737 MAX 8s worth more than $5.1bn at list prices, although the deal is subject to approval by the Chinese government."The 737 is the backbone of our single-aisle fleet," said Adam Tan, Vice-Chairman and President of Hainan Group. "The new 737 MAX will help our airline grow, become more efficient and offer five-star service for our passengers." Boeing also finalised a deal with leasing company MG Aviation for two additional 787-9 Dreamliners, worth $499m at current list prices.Airbus shares fell €0.82 to €45.69 at 14:02 in Paris.PW
