(Sharecast News) - Ericsson said on Tuesday that president and chief executive Börje Ekholm has decided to step down and will be succeeded by Per Narvinger with effect from 1 October.
Narvinger joined the Swedish telecoms firm in 1997 and has broad experience from different areas of the telecoms and ICT industry, including research and standardisation, development, product management and sales, Ericsson said.
He has worked in various senior leadership roles and has also had long-term assignments in Australia and Spain.
Most recently, Narvinger has headed Business Area Networks since 15 March 2025, and prior to that he headed Business Area Cloud Software and Services since 2022.
Jan Carlson, chair of Ericsson's board of directors, said Narvinger has "deep technical knowledge of our industry as well as extensive commercial experience and has proved himself in several key leadership positions".
"The board is very pleased to welcome Per into this role at a very important time for the company," he added.
Ekholm will step down as president and CEO after more than nine years, and 20 years as a member of the board of directors. He will retire from the company, stepping down from both roles on 30 September and thereafter acting as executive advisor to the new CEO until 15 June 2027.
At 1450 BST, the shares were down 1.8% at SEK114.55.
