Civil engineering group Costain has won a 100m-pound deal to build a major road link in north-west England.Costain secured the contract from Lancashire County Council to construct a dual carriageway between the M6 motorway and Heysham and the Morecambe peninsula.The award follows a three-year Early Contractor Involvement tie-up between Costain and Lancashire, in which the link road became the first highway scheme to pass successfully through the new National Infrastructure Planning process.The project will involve re-designing Junction 34 of the M6, 4.8km of dual carriageway, 4.5km of new slip-roads, and 12 major structures including a 200m-span bridge over the River Lune.Work will begin in January 2014 and is due to finish in 2017.PW
