German luxury car firm BMW has formed a new 'mid-to-long term' collaboration with Japanese rival Toyota which will see the German group supply the Japanese car maker with fuel efficient diesel engines for vehicles produced in Europe. Under the deal, the the two companies agreed on a collaborative research in the field of next-generation lithium-ion battery technologies. Furthermore, they have agreed to identify and discuss other possible collaborative projects.The supply of 1.6 and 2.0 litre engines will begin in 2014, although BMW did not release the financial details of the agreement.
