(Sharecast News) - Energy and medical equipment and systems producer Avingtrans announced on Monday its subsidiary Peter Brotherhood has secured an order to supply steam turbines for a floating production vessel. The AIM-traded firm said that as part of the deal, which was worth more than £10m and was expected to be delivered during 2020, the business also secured an option to provide a similar set of turbines for a yet-to-be-confirmed, potential future vessel. It said the order followed a similar project that saw Peter Brotherhood supply components for the world's first floating liquefied natural gas vessel conversion, the Hilli Episeyo, which successfully began production offshore Cameroon earlier this year. The UK-based company was "rapidly becoming the market leader" for the specialist turbines, the Avingtrans board claimed in its statement, developing a reputation for engineering highly-specialised systems for the particular niche in the oil and gas sector."Securing this order is a great start to the year and builds on our reputation as a genuine world leader in this technically challenging, niche market," said Austen Adams, divisional managing director of the process solutions and rotating equipment division at Avingtrans."The turbines supplied by Peter Brotherhood are one of the first major components in the build sequence, so our team's performance is critical to the success of each vessel's conversion."The order recognises the expertise and reputation for reliable, high-quality engineering which our team has developed over the years and provides another example of how UK manufacturing continues to make its mark on the global stage."
