(Sharecast News) - Shares in Alibaba jumped on Monday after the Chinese ecommerce titan unveiled its most powerful large language model to date, Qwen3.8-Max.
The company said Qwen3.8-Max, boasting 2.4trn parameters and supporting a context window of up to 1m tokens, ranks fifth and second among AI models in terms of text and vision benchmarking respectively.
The model is now accessible via APIs on the Alibaba Cloud Model Studio for global developers, but will be fully released next week.
It gives developers advanced capabilities in coding, real-life work, research and long-horizon tasks, the company said.
"When addressing highly complex, multi-constraint, and long-horizon challenges, Qwen3.8-Max also exhibits elite system-level autonomous planning and end-to-end, closed-loop adaptive learning capabilities," Alibaba announced.
"Additionally, Qwen3.8-Max is engineered to manage intricate, real-world workloads, spanning application design, legal document review, sports analytics, financial research, culinary concept development, rehabilitation progress visualization, and architectural 3D modeling."
Alibaba shares finished 7% higher at KHD$125.20 in Hong Kong.
